On the way to Hallstaat we stopped at a concentration camp, it was a very quite and moving time. I got to walk and stand in the same places as people that were in prison there. We saw the tiny bed rooms, the work areas, and the cremation kilns. It was hard to look at. The beds were so small that my nieces would barely fit, let alone a grown man. The work areas were of course the largest parts of the camp. Then the room with the kilns was horrifying. To this day there are pictures and names on the walls of the rooms from family of the ones that died. While we were there it began to rain which darkened the sky, ti was almost like the sky was just as hurt as we were looking at it. We saw pictures of the dead bodies and of people fading away from abuse and hunger. There was also a cemetery for women and children that we saw. It was sad to say the nicest part of the camp.
After this stop it was of to Hallstaat. I LOVE this place. It was like living in a postcard for a couple days. We went to the salt mine while we were there. It is the largest in Europe. It was cool, we got to slide down the miners slides. LOL so much fun. Inside the mines it also had a salt lake. To get there we took a ski gondola and then hiked up in the Alps. The most amazing thing you could ever see, hands down. The view form the top at the mines was so unbelievable. We got allot of time to walk around the little Hallstaat. I got some souvenirs. We went to the Bine Haus which is the BONE HOUSE...ahhhhhh so cool. It is a little building that has skulls and body parts, it sit in a cemetery behind a church. We also at 10:30pm did a polar bear plunge into the lake..it was freezing but so worth it. I mean how many people can say they jumped into a lake in the Alps. Also while walking around we ran into some people in full on lederhosen. It was crazy..of course pics are up on facebook.
Next we went to a small church in ST. Wolfgang..which is a very small town with some shops and the church, ti was on the way to Salzburg.
When we got to Salzburg we rested up and started the tour the next day. We went on a guided tour, we saw sights from Sound of Music, Mozart's birth house, and the 1st coffee shop and many other 1sts in Salzburg. It was cool, our tour guide was a funny little old guy. He made the tour allot more fun then it would have been.
After the tour we had a group dinner and then Anne and I went back to the hotel and dyed our hair pink. Ok it was really just like highlights but still fun. Then the next day we headed to the ICE CAVES just outside Salzburg. It was a long hike/walk after the gondola ride but so cool.
While we were walking up again in the Alps we were higher then a little prop plane. The ice caves was made totally out of yes ice and stairs. We went straight up then back down. The ice was shaped like bears, elephants and other stuff. It was cold but so much fun. When the cold fun was down we got ready to go to Dorfgastine. On the way we stopped at a little pull off and took some pics with the Salzburg castle in the background.
We spent the last 8 days in Dorfgastine..which is also like a post card. It took about 30 minutes to walk to width and length of the town. We stayed in this little B and B and the family that ran it were so cute. While there we hiked the Alps..like hard core hiked the Alps. We took the same path that the Von Trapp family took to escape. From the top we could see the back of the Italian Alps.. which I thought was so amazing. It started to rain on the way down but to me that just made it so much better. We had some great little group dinners and a town BBQ. They knew what they were doing to cause the food was so good. I got to watch a shooting star shower over the Alps. I don't think I have ever been in such awe before, it was beyond breath taking. And yes of course when started to rain Anne and I went outside and danced in like there was no 2mro. So cold but come on who goes to the Alps and doesn't dance like an idiot in the rain? lol We also got to go the the church there. which was a mass, it was very different but nice to see how other people choose to worship. We also hiked up to and Alm which is a mountain farm for lunch..wasn't my favorite meal but the experience was fun and I got to share it with my group.
We left on Friday morning on the train to head back for our last hours in Vienna. Anne and I ran some last minute errands and went to the out reach to say goodbye to everyone. That was the hardest part of the trip, I grew to love those people and leaving them hurt. I got my hugs and hand shakes after being there a few hours and we went back to the hostel. My plane home left around 11 am Sat. Aug 15, the ride the airport was filled with I don't want to go's and has it already been 3 months. After some delays and re-routes through Denver I got back to AZ about 4-5 hours later then planned. Even though the airline lost one of my bags I was happy to be back. Just cause I know people are thinking about it..yes I cried the plane ride home. Sad day I know, I just was not ready to leave Vienna or Europe for that matter. I love the people and the country more then I ever thought possible. Vienna will always have a place in my heart, and I hope to return back one day. Thank goodness for facebook and e-mail so I can keep in touch with my new friends and who am I kidding family. I love you guys and I will always miss you.
Just in closing all in all everything I did was life changing and everything I saw was mind opening. This was a summer that will never be topped, I had the best time of my life.. Thank you mom and dad for giving me the encouragement to go and making it financially possible for me to go. Thank you BYU for the opportunity. Thank you Prof. McFarland and Isaac for being so amazing, and making the trip memorable. Thank you to everyone in my group for all your help and the laughs we shared. Thank you to the outreach for becoming a home away from home and my new forever family and friends. Thank you Vienna for welcoming me in and giving me the summer of a life time. Words can not express what I felt and the memories I will always have.

my host mom..the one i don't like got home early from her trip.booooooooooooo!!!!!!!! i really dislike this lady. well anyways, she meets me at the door with nothing but complaints. about our bathroom trash being to full and blah blah blah. megan and i had gotten everything ready to just take out when we left in the morning but i guess that was not good enough for her.
then she starts crying about her flowers looking sad and un watered. so i told her they had been watered everyday since they left. she laughed and said not possible and i said well they were and she said well not this morning. so i came back with no i watered them for 30minutes this morning, she then called me a liar. which if anyone knows me knows that pissesssssssss me off. i said fine call me a liar and walked off.
then only good part about leaving is that i will never have to see her again...way to ruin my last day in vienna.

then my friend bryce was gonna sing and play lets get it on, but decided to add a twist to his act. a while back he found out i could stick my fist in my mouth. so he was like i'll play if you do it with me, i agreed. it was weeks ago and he forgotten until anne reminded him. so when it was his turn he pulled me up front with him and announced it to the room. he then said he would only sing if i did my trick while he did so. oh course i freaked out and started giggling in embarrassment. so yes i caved in and did it. and it was funny cause like every missionary there pulled out their cameras and recorded it. so yeah in like 6months to 2 years i will be in like 10 different states and or countries. :)
then anne and i sang our duet. it was bosssssssss. we did really good well at least that is what people told us. we also got mega recorded, i guess people kinda like us here. it was fun. then anne did a broom trick with hillary which was cool to see, but even better was them trying to teach other people how to do it.
it was a great and fun night. but it was also kinda sad. i had to say goodbye to a lot of people that i was not ready to leave yet. so after all that stuff, we hung out with our friend lloyd and played games.
today i took my last final. my art test. i think i did great on it. now i just have to wait for the final grades to post. and i have to start packing today..boooooooooooooo. i don't want to. 2mro will also be a sad day. i have to say goodbye to everyone else that i don't want to leave.
then monday get final things done and tuesday morning head to slazburg.
Thursday, July 30, 2009
today we had the 2 german finals. i think i did rather well on them both. at least i don't think i am in any danger of failing but i will keep my fingers crossed just in case. so please also keep good thoughts for my grades with you guys.lol
today is the last group meeting in vienna. then sunday is my last one here, i already know it is gonna be a tear filled day, the people here are amazing. i am just not ready to go. this summer went by to fast.
i said good bye to my host family on tuesday, they left to go on vacation. it was kinda hard to say bye to the dad but everyone else it was ok. they are a nice family that i will miss.
2mro is the talent show at the lds institute and i am kinda excited and nervous to be in it. i am singing with anne so this should be fun and interesting.
tuesday it is off to salzburg and dorfgastein. i will be there the 4-14 of august. then back to vienna for about half a day on the 14th. then my flight back to az is the morning of the 15th.
love you guys

i left thursday night for budapest with anne and chloe two of the most amazing people on this earth. we got there at about 11pm as the train from vienna was about 1 and 1/2 hours late. we got a taxi and headed to monique's house. she is a friend of annes. her family is there because her husband works for the embassy. on the way to her house a whole new world from aladdin came on the radio.
chloe and i turned the backseat into a stage, and it was fantastic!!!!! anne thought it was the funniest thing ever and the driver didn't really seem to care. lol after we got to the house, we mapped out the next day and then it was off the bed.
all 3 of us shared a queen sized bed, it was cool we had our own bathroom and so much space, so much better then a hostel. :) friday morning the real fun started.
we had real american cereal it was great...ymmmm kix and cheerios. mo and the kids took us to a park where we got to see about of stuff about the communist fall and such. it was cool. her kids which are 6,4,2 years old got cranky so she dropped us off to take them home.
we walked around for about 4 or so hours before we were gonna meet up with mo. we saw the coolest stuff ever... budapest is a great city. while walking around i saw my friend from high schools little brother who is on his mish right now. so crazy random so we talked to him and the companions for a little then went on our way.
about 20 mins after that chloe's sandal broke, and we fixed it with a plastic bag handle to hold i ton her foot. it was the funniest yet sad thing i have ever seen. we got ready to cross the chain bridge and turned the danu into a wishing well. it was so funny and american but, hey when you have a big wish you need a big wishing well.
we meet mo at a church and headed off to the mall so chloe could get new shoes. we had some lunch, then it was off to get ice cream. not as good as vienna but it was delish. then it was back to the car so we could see the city by night.
we went to heros square and saw roller bladders practicing their tricks..it was cool.
then back to the car for some more night time tour. got some more pics then it was back home.
shower then to bed we were all so tired. the next morning we had breakfast then watched some movies with the kids until the cab got there.
on the train we had to get ready for a wedding party. our train got there 1 hour before it started and the station was about 45 mins away. people had a fun time watching us do our hair and make-up while in our seats. but the best was when i had to shave my legs in that tiny dirty train bathroom..so funny!
the wedding was fun good food and friends so all-n-all a great weekend.
this is the last week of classes and then it is off to salzburg for a few days.

We will be there until Sat. then we come home and head to Anne's host mothers wedding party. It will be a busy next couple of days. I am so ready for it. I will check back with ya'll after I get home from me trip.

This week German class was good for the most part. I feel like some of the work is getting a little harder for me but I have alot of people wanting and willing to help me. Which makes it easier for me, it helps take away some of the stress and pressure. I also have a teacher that is giving me extra credit work so I can make sure I pass with no problems.
Art class has been great. We went back to the Art History museum this week to finish up soe work, ahhhh this place is amazing. Thursday we went to the Belevedre, it is the modern or the more modern art museum here. It has things like Monet, Manet,Klimt, and so many others. It is an amazing feeling knowing that you are standing in the same room with such great works of art. I mean these are the painters and painting that helped form and change art for the entire world. It is such an unreal thing. I sometimes can not believe that it is all for real!!!!!!
FHE was good on Monday, I just love the LDS out reach center and the people that go there. Wed. at institute was great, so many people came the place was packed. Which just made ot ten times better.
Thursday and Friday night Anne stayed the night with me and we just did girly crap, and talked and messed around, it was nice. I have alot of fun when I am wit her, so it works that we are always together. I got her to watch The Pirate Movie, mom, michelle you should know the one I am talking about. She loved it just about as much as I do, which just proves we are meant to be friends.
Today her and I made dinner for Elder and Sister Gills. Just a simple Penne and Cheese Bake with salad and cream puffs for the sweet. It turned out great and we had a blast talking with them. Seriously just about the cutest little couple ever. Yesterday was their 45th wedding anniversary, so we made them a card and left it all secret like on the roll sheet for FHE.
Also just an FYI on Friday I played my bud Simon in darts, 4 games and yeah me I won all 4!!!!
July 31st we are having a talent show at the LDS out reach, and Anne has finally talked me into doing a duet with her. I said we had to make it funny so I will be the guy and she is the girl. It should be a funny thing to see and a painfulllllllllll thing to hear. lol
Off to bed I go, have to get up early for church. Night all. Hugs and Kisses!!!!

The last time i wrote it was Monday and I have been a bummmmmmmm and let an entire week go by sorry.
As you all know Monday-Thursday I have German and Art class. All of the classes went great last week, I had a couple German quizzes, they were amazing but it is a good learning experience, I have since improved. I got back my first paper for one of my German classes. I had only about 8 mistakes, which was the best in the class. Which I am glad for seeing as I re-wrote it like 3 times and had help with the edits. I was very happy with myself.
Monday FHE was good and then Tuesday was homework at the LDS institute. Wed. Institute was great, well the lesson was long and boring but the company was good. The stake pres. taught as a part of graduation. The spaghetti was good and the dinner time convo was freakin' hilarious!! I just really love the people there especially the missionaries. well ok 4 of them. It was just a great night with some very funny word explanations. Such as Megan can you describe the word pimp? A German guy wanted to know what it was, so Elder Waldvogel asked me to explain. It was about the funnest thing ever.
On Thursday our art class went on it's first museum tour. We went to the Vienna Art history museum..they Kunsthistorisch Museum. It was amazing... I got to be like steps away from Rembrandt's and Raphael's and Durer's and so many other greats. It was a breath taking experience. I know I'm an art nerd but of I love it. After the museum it was time for the weekend.
Anne and I decided to go to Leipzig Germany, so Thursday night we got on the night train and the journey began. We had to go thru the Czech Republic to get there, ahhhhh. We got about an hour past Prague and then the real fun started. We felt the train jerking back and forth like someone slamming on brakes. Then a loud noise and a sudden stop happened. Guess what the train had broke. The conductor came over the all call and said it would be about 3 hours for the worker to get there and fix it. We sat on the train just kinda chillin, since we were not allowed to get off. As the stupid smoker had ruined that for us, by trying to open the track side doors and not the sidewalk side doors. So these people were trying to get on the tracks with train still coming. Dumb dumb dumb!!! lol
So about 3 1/2 hours later about 6 worker got there...the next all call was well it will be a little longer the worker have no clue how to fix it. 4 hours later they asked us to get off the train and get to the other side of the tracks. 5 hours later another train came and picked us. So this is how the train broke.....There are copper wires on top of the train that run along 2 sides. It helps to keep the train balanced on the tracks. Each side has about 15 smaller wires that attach to the train itself. The jerking we felt was from all 15 of these wires on one side snapping off one at a time. Then the entire support wire fell off. Then the sudden stop and loud noise was us running over something on the track. It was great...we were stuck in middle of nowhere Czech for 5 hours.
The train that saved us took us to Dresden, where our next train was leaving gin 5 mins. ahhhhh but oh yes we made it. 2 hours later we were in Leipzig. It was so freakin' cool. I already want to go back, I loved it! The train station was 3 stories, over 140 shops/eats and had 25 train platforms...this place was huge. We were supposed to get there at 7 amish and got there at 1pm ish. We walked around for a few hours looking at the great buildings, so pretty. had the worlds best ice cream, i swear it will never be topped. Thanks again for the tip Elder Tilgner. he is from Leipzig so we had some insider info. :) Enjoyed some very windy and rainy weather and just enjoyed the beautiful surroundings.
Anne and I each bought a souvenir t-shirt, some dinner and headed back to the station. Got on the night train and headed towards home once again. This time at Prague we didn't brake down but it is just as crappy. 60 new passenger got on and there was only about 10 open seats. So all the hallways and stairwells were over stuffed with people. I had to go people climbing just to get to the restroom. lol
Got home Saturday morning around 7am. Did some laundry and e-mail returning and finally had some real food and Nice bowl of muesli..aka cereal. Then it was off to Anne's to help her host family move. 9am-1:30pm that is what we all did. Rented He's just not that into you and came back to my place to watch it. Got that and all our homework done...we are so on top of things.
By 11pm it was shower time and BED TIME. Wed night-Fri night I got about 10 hours of sleep. So 3 days and 10 hours, booooo. Thanks all to homework and trains. :)
Church today was fun, good lessons and good sacrament meeting. Got to catch up with my friend Bryce who had been gone, so all in all a good day. But all I have to say is tired, sore, tired, sore! It is for sure nap time.
Funny story about Leipzig. I met a sparrow that knew how to beg like a dog. he landed in front of me and opened his mouth, and just looked at me. It was funny, so I fed him some of my ice cream cone. Then hod wife got involved and we decided they were not eating it, but taking ti a nest or something. It was just funny and cute.
love and miss you all

Finally got to the institute and had some good chili for dinner. My friend Simon helped me with a paper and then it was time to play. I hitup some darts and pool, I still suck at poll but I am still killing people in darts. lol YEA ME!!! hahaha
Came home did the rest of my homework and got to chat to my mom and some friends online, which made this long day feel alot better. It may be over but it helped the end of my day. Somethings have just been hard the last little bit. It is nothing to worry about mom it is just life. I have a feeling it will all be getting better here real soon, I just need to talk(e-mail) with a friend. After that it will be all good.
Hey I miss you all very much, you guys are great for keeping up with me on my blog. Thanks for those that have been keepin gin touch with me over the computer, it has been a great aid for missing you all.

So today at church we had some visitors...to say the least. So both R.S. and Sunday School went as normal, just nice and chill. When getting ready to walk into sacrament we found the room had been taken over.
We had the entire Mountain View highschool (AZ) there today. They are getting ready to finish up a concert tour and wanted to come to church. Lucky us they picked our ward on oh yes....fast sunday.
About 40 of their 60 people came up to bare their testimonies. Which would not have been bad, if they hadn't started an EFY show. It was a mix of girls camp meets EFY meets youth conference. AHHHHH high school kids. Every other testimony sounded the same maybe 3 of them were real and heart felt.
To top it off half my ward doesn't speak english so the testimonies had to be translated so for each person up there it was 2 testimonies really. So while it was kinda funny it was also very boring after a bit. Needles to say my church got out a 1/2 hour late today due to the overwhelming need to share today.
I think some of them forgot that this was a real ward and not their closing meeting. It was alot of I'll miss you guys and Ill miss singing with you, your all great tyoe thing. On the up side they did a musical number and it was good. So all in all church was real good today, I like my new ward alot.
Walking home from the bus today after church, I saw a guy getting arrested by some under cover police it was pretty niffty. Not sure what for but it was him and about 4 officers, two of which were going thru his car while the other two babysat the guy.
I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July. Enjoy this coming week. I miss you all and loves ya.

Ok so the week is coming to a close. Wed. and Thurs. I just had class so nothing uberly fun. Thursday we met the new art teacher. her name is Katie and she seems really cool. So yea all the new teachers are good, this makes me very happy.
For summer semester we don't have any classes on Friday so we have 3 day weekends every week..yyyyyiiiippppeeeeeeeeeee. I love having more time to play and get homework done, that to me is always a good thing. Wed. institute was cxl'd for their graduation, but Thurs. we still went and played for a while. While there playing we baked the largest apple pie I have ever seen. This thing could have with no problem fed like 20 or so people, it was crazy. Anne stayed the night so we were up late just playing and watching Boy Meets World. We have a goal to finish the 1st 2 seasons before we go back to Provo. Just because we are so cool at like 10pm we went to the park by my house and played on thw slides and swings, it was tons o' fun.
Friday we slept in and the got up to go out. It was a chill day, and to the shock of the group we got ready...as in we did our hair and make-up. Ok I did our hair and make-up. lol We got lunch and went to run some errands. After the funness of that we headed to the institute to make cookies before movie night.
It was great! I made the best M&M cookies ever!!!!!!! Better then anything you guys have had before. You all know how I do cookies so I think that is saying something. :) I had to use this maple gold sugar cause they do not have brown sugar. It changed it a little but they were so good. The Elders there attacked them like a Vulcher does a dead body. It was a funny sight. But the few other that got some said they were good.
Some cookies fel off the sheet and begun to bake to the bottom of the oven..ahhhhhhhh but no worries. I got it fixed very fast. Of course some M&M's stayed on the bottom so for about the next 2 trays the oven was smoken' lol and not in a good way. Then I watched the 4th Harry Potter.
I love the Elder here they are so freakin' fun and funny. As of last night they all know how bad I am at pool but how good I am at darts. After all the fun it was home for some sleep.
Today we met as a class for a group lunch. We celebrated the 4th with a tasty lunch from a Czech place. It was cool cause it was in a game/amusment park. When we were all done stuffing our faces we went to play on the rides. P.S. the place we ate at is also called a beer garden...hehehehe. Came home did all but one of my papers for homework, so some stress is gone. Know I plan on watching a movie and chillin' till bed time.
I hope you all have a great 4th, enjoy the fireworks for me. I am so sad I can't see them this year. Please remember to be safe while haven' your fun tonight. I love you all and miss you guys tons.

Sunday I went to a different ward that some of the other BYUers are in. I loved it so much better then my actual ward. So I will be switching to that ward from now on. It was just so nice to feel like I was in a real ward again. After church Anne and I watched music videos and the best show ever made....BOY MEETS WORLD! I love that show.
Monday was the 1st day back to school from break. We had the same teachers but as of Weds. we will have a new German teacher and on Thurs. a new art teacher. I am excited to meet them and see how this next part of the semester will go. We went to the Hundertwasser House. It was so amazing, it is the coolest apartment complex in the world. People travel form around the world to see it. It is very exclusive and only artist live there. It is a well known fact that unless you live there or know people that do, you DO NOT get into the building. Guess what we so did. We meet this nice artist that lived there and she let us in. We got to walk around all 8 floors and the cool garden on the roof. It was a once in a life time chance....ahhhhh I still can not believe that I got to go inside. She even invited us back so we can bring the new art teacher. We then went to the KunstHaus which is art museum. We got to see the Friedrich Hundertwasser exhibit. This man is so freakin cool. He is becoming a new fav of mine. The best part, he designed the museum that we saw his stuff in. So we saw his apartment complex and his museum. I wish I could have taken pics inside the muesum, his stuff is crazy cool.
Went to FHE and hung out there for a bit. It was fun I am becoming pretty good friends with this one missionary, he is a great guy. It is nice to not have to worry bout being attracked to him cause he is on a mission. lol So it is fun. I got home did my homework and then after a un wanted change of plans got ready for bed.
Today we had classes and then a competition for art class. We split up into teams of 4 and had to find buildings that matched the eras' on the page. It was pretty fun cause they had to be places that we had not talked about in class. Trust me that doesn't leave much of Vienna open. My team came in 3rd out of the 5 teams. Now it is homework time.

so the next update....thursday washed clothes and met my teacher and some of the group for ice cream, free which is always good. friday anne and i did homework and yes got it all done. we then met our bud bess for dinner and a hair coloring party.
yes i kinda look like snow white but whatever, i like it and it will fade pretty fast. pics are on facebook if you'd like to see my great disney princess impression. after we did my hair and bess's really blonde eyebrows we met up wit our buddy lloyd. we watch a movie, well we watched and he fell asleep. then it was off to home.
anne had spent the night and we got up today ran around for a little bit and then got ready for the few free concerts we had today. we went to a orchestra concert that was high schools and groups from the good ol' usa. it was so much fun.
the 1st group from hawaii was the best they freakin' rocked. the 2nd group from iowa, was well i did not like them. then the 3rd group from mesa az (mt. view high school) was really good. we then heard a group from new jersey they were ok. but we left before the last group which was fromm scottsdale az. we were so hungry and needed to eat.
got dinner, cooked it, ate. i know so exciting. we chatted for a bit then headed to the donauinsel which is a small island for the donauinsel music fest. it was crazy crowded with rude drunk people and then some just dumb people. we missed snow patrol which is why we went. well we heard them but didn't see them so it worked, i guess. i mean no stress it was free after all. we did get to see some alright german groups.
headed home on the worlds most crowded train, which had the great smell of bathroom and beer. lol but yes i made it home ok and i am now getting ready for bed as it is after 1 am right now.
all in all a great day 2 cool free concerts and one was in the vienna concert house which is cool in itself and the other was on a island, which is pretty neat i think.

So I have just gotten back from Italy and Greece. It was a blast, it was a whirlwind marathon of a vacation but so worth it. If I had the time I'd do it again. So now let me update you about this amazing trip I have just finished.
Megan and I took a night train from Vienna to Venice Friday night which got us there at around 8am. This guy came into our cabin to sleep, which was fine as he was replacing a lady that had just gotten off. We soon learned that he was a stowaway!!! The conductor came to check tickets and he did not have one. He started to fit with the conductor and ended up leaving our cabin. He never did off the train, he just hid in a different place. I thought it was strange I thought that stuff only happened in the movies. Shortly after that we got to Venice. We took in some sights then needed to book a ticket to the port to catch the ferry to Greece. While enjoying Venice and walking around it began to rain. My flip flops did not like that. How did they decide to tell me you ask? I fell down the outdoor stairs for all to see. Yes I know, I would. So I now have a giant bruise on the back of my leg..which is still very tender. So going back to the train station now...sorry. We wanted to book to Brindisi but all the tickets were gone, so a little frustrated we went to Bari instead which is just above Brindisi. The train was schd' to get in around 9pm after leaving Venice at 1pm. however came in about an hour late. We got to know this great Italian family on the train, they were so cute. One of the sons played tic tac toe with me, it made the long ride a little more fun.
We got to Bari in the middle of the night and needed to find the hostel we had booked. It was called the Black Dog House. We wondered around looking lost and asking for help for about a hour. Whe fianlly a nice family walked us to the door and made sure we got in. It was an odd hostel to say the least but, it was late and we were tired so we showered and went to bed.
The next morning which was Sunday we got up at 7 and walked to the port to buy tickets for the ferry to Greece that afternoon. With the tickets in hand we waited to board the boat. We got on and around 11am and the boat left shortly after 1pm. The boat was nice. It had 6 big screen tv's and a seating/sleeping room, showers, casino, gift shop and a diner type thing with a bar. It also has 7 decks. We played around for a little then ate and started to take some pictures. While on board we met some interesting people.
The crew wa nice but the large tour groups got a little blah after a while. But the best was the TV jerk. No matter who watching the show he would get up and change it or turn it off. AHHHHH that kinda bugged me but whatever, I was on my way to Greece.
We docked in Patra Greece at 6am Monday morning. Headed straight to the beach. We walked around and played for just under 12 hours and headed backto the harbor to get the 6pm ferry back to Bari Italy.
Yes that is right Greece in less then a day, I loved it so much! While waiting for the ferry it started to rain and then oh yes hurricane type winds came rushing through. No worried mom we were inside and safe. It lasted about 40 mins or so then it stopped. We got on the boat and began the trip back to Italy. While on board I took great advantage of the shower and cleaned up, I felt gross. After that I had supper then went to watcha movie and try to get some sleep.
WE got back to Bari at around 9 am and bought tickets to come back to Vienna. We were so dead tired we decided Rome could wait til next month. We had some time to kill so we went exploring and got lunch. I had this great little Italian sandwich which I have no clue what was, but it was good. We loaded up on cheeseburgers for the road and went back to the train station.
We had a couple hours before we left so Megan went for another walk and I stayed with the stuff. This guy kept hitting on me. When he asked me if I was married I without hesitaion said..I was engaged. Over here the engagement ring is worn on the right hand, so I passed my CTR ring off as an engagement ring. lol After that he kinda backed off and got on his train. Later we got on our train to Bologna.
In Bologna we had a 2 hour stop over. Which turned into over a 3 hour stop over. BOOOOO they have no inside seating and it was freezing cold with pouring rain. The train was 85 mins late. Then stayed an extra 15 or so minutes at each station. So us getting home at 9am turned into 11am. Again it could have been worse but we met some great little old guys from Germany and they kept us company.
Got home loaded my pictures which are out of order...sorry facebook was acting odd. Did some e-mails and have yet to sleep cause I have institute tonight and when I go to bed I'm out til morning. I am so tired, words can not even explain. lol
Some other trip facts. Gone since Friday only had on hostel, I'm cheap.. we slept on the boat or night trains. :) We loved on junk food and cheeseburgers. Except the meal on the boat that one was real. I fell down stairs in Venice. Met a stowaway on the train. Stayed in a odd hostel but had the time of my life.
Ok so one more, I was a little upset that we had to book into Bari and not Brindisi at the start of the trip. On the boat coming back to Italy I saw on the news that the day we would have been there, there was a gun fight out front of the train station. I am now thankful for the fact that all the tickets were sold out. Oh yes and the train ride from Bologna to bari gave me the best coastal tour ever, it was fantastic.
Side note- Sat. I get to go to a music fest and see Snow Patrol all for free....yyyiiipppeeeeee
I'm sure I am leaving stuff out but I'm realy out of it tired, so if I am sorry.
Love you all

Yesterday German class was cxl'd. We went to a bunch of houses designed during Red Vienna, for the tour class. It was all pretty interesting to see how the political parties change the house/land development. After that we meet one of the German teachers for a hike/ church tour. We went to a church that Otto Wagner designed, this guy is amazing hie work is so cool. The church was made for people in a mental hospital, so they can still worship.
We were told the day before that the church had a restroom we could use. When we got to the top 3 of us had to so we asked th tour guide. He unlocked the door for us, then turned around to seea line of about 6 people waiting. He got really angry about how they are not a public church so the bathroom isn't either. He let us 1st 3 stay but made the rest leave. After they left he started swearing about how dumb it was for us to think we could use it, and make his tour late. Funny thing thou he was 20 mins late to even open the church to start the tour in the 1st place. We al thought that was kinda silly.
When all that was said and done it was off for home. Got some homework done and then headed to institute. It was ok, but I ended up helping in the kitchen to set up for dinner. I had fun with that, the ladies that work in there are so cute and funny. After class and dinner was being served, I got to have a very long convo with my friend Lloyd. It was funny to be the only ones in the room not eating.
I was ok with it cause I got to play some more darts. We played 5 games cause we were tied 2 wins each and we of course could not end it that way. he won the last game but it took him 5 attempts to beat me. I am getting really good, and I really like playing. In last nights games I got 3 bulleyes and a ton of triple scores. :) Lloyd keeps telling me it's because I have lucky throws, it really bugs him that I beat him when I don't really aim and he does.
After insitute he walked me home and showed me this really great little white church, it was funny it's right next to my house and I had no clue it was even there. I really like hanging out with him, I am on my way to haven' another really good friend and I like that.
2mro I have all my finals...boooo but when it's done I get to leave for vacay. Greece and italy here I come!!!! I have to head up for breakfast, so I love and miss you all.

Monday Megan and I had to teach the FHE lesson. I know it doesn't sound bad to you guys but here it is done a little different. 1st it needs to be all or some what in German, and it's in front of like 30 people. With Elders on the mission and mission leaders. I think that is kinda alot of pressure. Ok well not for the mission people but to us common folk, it's a little nerve racking.
We did great, we filled the entire hour time we had and people got so involved. We spoke about repentance, and the group started a small debate it wa so cool to see people getting so passionate about it. I really liked hearing all the comments and stories. Knowing me you all ahould have guessed that I made them do object lesson type things. I did one with a cup of mud and water to show that we need to keep our insides clean and not just our outer apperance. Then one with a single cookie just sitting on a plate. The point was if you have a question or need help or anything really you just need to ask. The person that did got the cookie. People seemed to like the lesson, but I was so scared I get really nervous with stuff like that. I'm always worried I'll say something wrong or dumb, this is not the stuff to mess up on.
We did do some of it in German but I was having a hard time getting my point across so I switched to English and everyone was very nice about that choice. After the lesson we played pictionary which was fun.
Oh so cool, I played pool and well he let me win by cheating but whatever it was fun. I learned a little about it should be played. The cool thing is we played darts next. I had no idea how to play it the right way.
The 1st game he won but then I kicked his trash. I didn't win by a little it was a big gap and we had viewers so people saw him lose. I got a triple 16 and triple 19 and then a normal 17 all in one round, it was so cool. I jumped for joy and made me look kinda silly but who cares I won. I did get a picture of me and the dart board, I guess scores like that don't happen all that often in a round. I guess it was a type new players luck or something. I enjoy playing darts and would like to see if I can get better.
Today was German class a quiz and tons of homework. The finals are on Friday then the "summer break" starts. We are going to get our tickets and things booked 2mro, I hope cause I am ready to go. Also Monday was a Otto Wagner day. We saw a few of the building that he either designed or helped in the project. I had fun with that, I got involved in the discussion and felt kinda good about what I had to say. Otto Wagner was very good at what he did, and today it is more admired then it was when he first did it.
2mro should be a fun and busy day. We have alot of stops on the tour list. We are joining that class with one of the Germans classes, so we can get a tour of a palace or something. I will for sure let you know how it goes, but it should be a fun day. Sorry one more thing. Monday we went to the ORF which is their big TV station. We did a tour and got to take pics and all that stuff. I got to help out and play with a blue screen. I sat on a box with a carpet on it, in front of a blue screen. Then they put on music and put me live a TV screen and it looked like I was flying on a magic carpet...it was sooooo cool.
I love you guys and miss you all tons!!!1 <3 <3

When we last meet I was getting ready to go to the Magic Flute. It was Fan-tas-tic! They of course cut it short becuase it was a child's version with marionetttes. I really really liked it. I had fun getting some people in my group while the play was in intermission. Came home and started getting things ready for the next day.
Thursday Anne came over and we started to work on the piles of homework we had. We got all the stuff for Monday finished and moved on to better and yes funner things. :) We looked at the sites about Bratislava traveling so we could pick out what to see. We found a list of top 10 things to see and picked out our favs. We went to the train station after finding out we had to buy there and not on-line. It took us about 10 mins to buy the tickets, but that is after the 1 1/2 it took us to find where to do that..lol It was a adventure just finding the counter.
After that run around was done we meet Jeff and McKay at Chelsea's for a movie night. We watched The Wild Gang a German soccer movie and Kung-Fo Panda in German. They were both very funny and good.
Anne and I had been running errands all day so we had been a the train a total of 10 different times that day, it was a long train filled day. After the movies the boys and Anne left, I was staying the night to make sure Chelsea and I went to lunch on time for her surprise proposal.
Friday morning was filled with me lying to Chelsea about the plans we didn't really have. The lies got pretty deep, seein as our teacher was also invovled. She had no clue what was about to happen. Her boyfriend flew in to Vienna Friday morning from Phoenix. Jeff picked him up from the airport and got him to the Schonn Brunn Palace while I got Chelsea ready to go.
We were on our way so I called Jeff to let him know and get them into position. Right as we headed up to the spot a wedding came out and stopped right where we nedded to be. AHHHHH came to mind. jeff tried to ask them to move but with no luck. Chelsea and I walked up a new way and the rest was just by the seat of your pants, the plan had been on the spot changed.
No worries she was surprised shouted yes there was some hugging and kissing and Jeff and I left. We meet up later that day for lunch with a group at herbs the best schnitzel place in Vienna. After we let our tummies settle it was back home to get ready for Saturday.
I got my bag and Anne and I headed to movie night at the LDS institute. We watched No Reservations, I had never seen it but it was so cute. We had ice cream sundays and went bak to her place. I mean we had a really early day, so we could catch the train to Bratislava.
We woke up at 4:30am got on the train at 6 and were standing in Slovakia by 7am. The train ride there was filled with funny things that weren't funny and all the greats from being beyond tired. We got there and decided it would be a good time to make a plan. We learned how to work the bus and street car systems and we were off for what we hoped would be a great day. And it was. We saw 6 of the top 10 things in 7 hours, we were all over that city, it was crazy fun. We saw the Bratislava Castle, Little Blue Church, Devin Castel, The Bridge Space Needle, The Globe, and the City Building. We also saw other cool things and the many pics are to come.
I had such a great day it was close to the best most busy weekend I have ever had. I was only home for 20mins in a 3 day period. I have only slept about 12 hours in the past 3 days. It has been a mess. Oh the entire day was filled with hilarity but the best funny oh get ready to laugh. Anne and I followed 4 young guys to what we thought was an exit to ask a question. It turned out they were making a potty break so we waited and ask the question. They turned out to be 4 British Hotties that had no clue how to answer the question. But we did get a pic with them. Best thing ever these guys rocked!!!!!!
We got back from Bratislava and meet up with Jeff 2 hours later to see a Mid Summers Night Dream in German. It was good but remembering we are in Austira it had some nudity and some kinda awkward sex scenes. But for the most part it was good. I then came home caught with Megan and crashed.
Today was church and Anne and I are getting ready to work on a school project. Today should be a nice calm day. Which after the past 3 days I could really use.
<3 <3 <3 Love ya all

Sunday was of course church and homework. Megan, Anne and I got all the homework done so we watched a movie. It was ok not my fav but whatever. If you have been on my facebook in the past 2 days you may have seen the pics from this next story. There are cookies here called Dopple Kakse. They are about the size of my fist, so there kinda big. I had 2 in my hand and decided to lick them cause I was not in the mood to share.
Anne then informed me that if you lick your food you have to put it all in your mouth at once. Silly girl she thought that would be hard for me. Needless to say I did amaze the crowd with the largeness of my mouth. lol The pics are kinda funny I think.
Monday we had German class and we went on a tour of the Ringstrasse on bikes which was so fun. We then went on a tour of the Burg Theater, which is the 2nd oldest theater still in use. It was then off to the LDS institute for homework, dinner, and FHE. My friend Chelsea got sick so I went home with her early. I ended up staying the night with her and Tasha from my group, we had a blast staying up late talking and just having some good ol' girl time.
Tuesday was german class and then a tour of the State Opera House. It was the 1st Opera House in Vienna. It was so cool I got to go on the stage. I mean I was standing and well you know me dancing on this world famous stage. When the tour was done a small group hit up some homework, and when they stopped I got worried I wouldn't finish so I kept working. It sucked but I got done and didn't have to stay up super late like some of them.
We then had a guy named Oliver from the ward make us some FANTASTIC homemade schnitzle with potatoe salad. He then made apple struddle for dessert, it was so good. I got home and cleaned up and it was off to bed, it had been such a long day.
Today is my Friday cause we have a four day weekend, so that will be fun. Tonight I am meeting a small group to go and see The Magic Flute at the Schonn Brunn Palace Theater. It is with puppets but I love this Opera so I am looking forward to it. About half our group is leaving tonight to go to Frankfurt for a temple trip. I am staying here to help my friend get engaged! She has no clue what is going on and we have been planning for weeks. I am so excited for the both of them. It's going down Friday so after it happens I will give ya'll the details. This girls is great and if anyone deserves this it is her.
Saturday Anne and I are going to Slavakia and then meeting our friend Jeff for a play at the Burg Theater. We are seeing a Mid Summers Night Dream, and yes it will be in German. It will be crazy funny but I think it will be good. So other then that it is just doing the 5 days worth of homework I was given to day for the break. I tell ya you might have a holiday but the homework never does, I feel bad for the both of us. LOL
Today was also my 1st mid-term since being here. I think I did ok so I'm not worried about it. It was Dr. McFarlands and it was at his house, after he gave us lunch. It was pretty chill. His wife Mary Anne is going to teach me how to make apple struddle from scratch. It is her mother-in-laws recipe and she is from Germany, so it should be good.
I'll see you all back here in a couple days. Same bat time and same bat channel. <3 <3 <3 <3

First bad night was Thursday. I had a great time taking the pictures from our photo shoot, it was fun and just so chill. Upon review of them on the computer in front of our group the comment was made that I was fat. To try and cover what HE had said, it was well I mean you don't look as fat as you would think!?! I know your all thinking Megan then mean come back queen had to of said something. But no I just stood there almost in tears because it hurt my feeling just a little bit, and it caught me some off guard that my friend Chelsea and I just walked off and went home.
He did call me 5 times that night but I didn't want to hear it so well, I didn't pick up. Then he e-mailed me and I still really didn't care. Finally at movie night he got me cornered in the computer lab and we talked. This is after I ignored him all day and blew him off when he tried to talk to me. He said he was sorry and tried to make-up or cover what he had said, but whatever I can't really be mad at him for being honest.
The second crappy night was last night and just the drama with BYU and trying to figure out what is going on with my account.
Today however was very relaxed and fun. We all slept in and then met up with a group and went to the Flomart which is the flea market. It was crowded and hot but so fun. I got some souviner shopping done and had a great chicken sandwhich lunch. Ran some errands and then some of us came back and watched Memiors of a Geisha, it wa a good movie which I was not expecting. I think it is time for homework and then another movie. After the greatness of the homework we will be viewing Elizabeth Town which I have seen and hated. I being the amazing Megan will give it another chance, for this time there is cookies, and they make everything better.
So that is the update thus far.....<3 <3 <3 <3 I love you and miss you tons

Yesterday was of course German class and the the tour class. For the tour class we went through the Rathaus which is their City Hall. It was really kinda neat. We each got to take turns sitting in the head mans chair and take pictures. After which we as a class we trespassed into a ballroom in which they were setting up for a event. We figure as long as it was the teachers idea we can't get in trouble and well it was his idea. While there Chelsea and I had to dance. I mean really who goes to a ballroom in Vienna and does not dance?.....For sure not us, we were busting out our best so called waltz. lol With backpacks on ans everything.
We then had a small lesson and then it was off to the Cafe Central, one of the swankest places in Vienna. We had a reservation for 20 people and were going for the soul purpose of cake. We got to this swank place in our jeans and flip flops and had tables set aside for us right up front. See this is a big deal becuase normally they put big school and un-classy folk in the back rooms where real customers can't see you. It was a very enjoyable time and I had some amazing Truffle Cake. The it was off to institute.
We had a great and spiritual lesson and then some great food for dinner. While at institiute I met a very charming man from England, who had just moved to Vienna that day. I'm sure your thinking it yes he is single, cute, great British accent. One hold up however...he is turning 31 this year. He is a really great guy and just a little old for any of us to really be crushing on.
Today after German we went on a tour of Parlament, which was cool to see how they work. To hear about the ups and downs they have experienced as a country. It was the time for the weekly class meeting with Prof. McFarland, we all headed over to his place to get the weeks updates. Tonight we went to a FREE Vienna Philharmonic concert at the SchonBrunn Palace. A small group of us decided to go early and do a little photo shoot.
After the meeting we got ready at Prof. McFarlands and then headed to SchonBrunn. It was six girls and Jeff our photographer for the night...:) All the guys we passed on the street looked at Jeff like he was a God. I mean he was walking the streets with 6 girls dressed up and looking fine. It was pretty funny.
We got to the Palace and Jeff pretended to be Spanish while giving us directions for the shoot. It was rather silly but so much fun. We jumped from area to area and the pics turned out great, well they did for the most part. After we were done Jeff and Lillian went to go get dinner while we went to save seats. Before we all seperated Chelsea and I had just had to get out of our dresses. I figured just pull the jeans on under the skirt and what not she we both did, right in the middle of the SchonBrunn Palace garden path and right in front of everyone.....including Jeff.
He didn't mind but the joggers on the path I guess thought it was odd cause they gave us a silly/mean look. hahahaha When we were done with the reverse strip tease we headed up the hill for the concert. IT WAS AMAZING!!!!! I don't think I have ever heard anything so fantastic in my entire life, these people are FAN-TAB-U-LOUS!!!! It was for sure one of the coolest things I have ever done.
The excitment of the night is coming to a close so with homework and a great night behind me, it is off to get ready for bed.
<3 love you all to tiny pieces.....and miss you all

We watched Jimmy Neutron, Sponge Bob, and PB and J Otter. It was all in german and we learned new vocab and to our surprise we recognized some vocab as well. It was fun to kick back and be learning soemething from kiddie shows. I then of course watched me some Disney movies on my lap top. It was a great day of tv and washing clothes.
Today was German class and we didn't have tour class today so Megan and I ran some errands. Got home did some homework and after a little more vocab review it will be dinner/ cartoon time, you know to settle down after my oh so hard day..lol
We have a very hard to open back door. You have to key lock it from both sides, which is how all the door in this house are, it's kinda hard to get use to but I'm gettin there. Anyways the back doors inside handle hits the wall so it is very hard to turn to open it, yesterday it proved to be no different. I went to go get my load and the door would not open. I pushed and pushed when finally bam it opened and smashed my little hand in every way possible but at least the door was open. My pointer finger got the most of this hurt, under my nail is slightly bruised and is very very sensitive. The best part is the end of my finger has that funny feeling like when your foot is asleep and it always feels numb. lol I don't know what that mean door did but it has been almost 2 days and it still feels that way. I'm starting to think that maybe Vienna doesn't like me. hahaha
That is the news from my end love you all so much and miss you tons <3

I am rockin' being sick today, which I blame on the great bike adventure of yesterday. It in a way worked out. Our other roommates left today for home so I was home to make sure there cleaning got done, and also that their key was put up. When our host dad found out they were leaving while we had church, he was very worried he wanted Megan or I to have their key in hand when they left.
Megan and I have the house to watch after for about a week and so I have to get the garden chores down for the night. Other then that my Sunday has been filled with watching movies and carttons from the 80's. It has been a great walk back into my childhood.
It has been a rather peaceful and slightly boring Sunday, which is just what my body ordered. 2mro will be some fun with a great 3rd day off, and yes of course some homework.
<3 you

This morning started at 5:30am so Megan and I could meet the bus by 7 to leave for Melk, which sounds like milk when you say it. It is about a hour bus ride to Melk, when we got there we went to the Melk Abby. This place is so huge, the abby, church, and lib. are all still active which is really neat. We had a guided tour that lasted about an hour then we walked around for about 20mins in the little village down the hill. Then it was back to the bus to head off to pick up our bikes.
We got our bikes and started the journey to Krems, which sound like cream when you say it. So today I took a bus to milk and rode my bike to cream.....hahahha I am so funny. It had been drizzling the whole day but when we got the bikes, it really started coming down.
About 10 minutes into the ride it began to pour rain, so I got freakin' soaked. The bike ride was about 3 hours and 20 miles. Soo I had about 2 hour and 40mins of hard core rain and hail and the worlds coldest wind.
About half way through some of us stopped at a little cafe and got peppermint tea to warm up. It was so good, I also had some apple struddle which was a great little pick me up. The it was off again to fight the elements and finish making our way to Krems.
We did finally make it, and this ride wa so worth the horrible rain and cold wind. It was through the amazing Austria woods and these un-real vineyards, it was hard to think I was really there.
I did get some pics. but it got so cold I lost feeling in my fingers and we decided to only stop if we just had had to get a picture. Also along the way we passed many castles and churchs some of which were still active and others ruins...ahhhhh so cool.
I felt like I was riding through a fairy tale book, with all the little villages and cafes and that eye popping jaw dropping background, it's hard to think it was real.
Today was one of the best days of my life. I'm sure things will come along to top it but being able to see everything I did and complete that bike ride I felt very accomplished and proud of myself. That was a nice feeling, knowing I had the option to have our bus pick me up if I wanted but still going on.
Not even half way into the ride my clothes were sticking to me they were so wet and I swear my pants weighed like 50 pounds. It got to the point they were sagging but I couldn't pull them up they were stuck where they were. lol Getting undressed was so hard when I got home to get into the shower, but I was able complete that task also. Wow I'm just so fufilled today. :)
Chelsea and I were about 5miles from the bus stop to leave when the bus pulled up and stopped us. Dr. McFarland got off and said come get on the bus now. We were a little confussed but we did as we were asked. When we got on he said "I knew you could go 5 more miles but the bus driver is getting mad so we are rounding up everyone now so we can leave." We all got on the bus and had to wait for a few people that we did not find and when all accounted for we left.
Upon leaving we were all artic cold and shivering almost to death from being so wet. We asked the bus driver to please turn on the heater he response " NO, I'm hot". BOOOOO to that driver he had 20 little students that looked like drowned rats and he was to hot to turn the heater on for any lentgh of time.
About an hour later we were back in Vienna and on the train to come home. We stopped with some other group members for this bomb pizza, from a little place called Pizza Mafia. I think the name is perfect for it, it is ran by an Italian family and the word mafia just so fits the family and the atmosphere. The pizza is to die for and the family is so nice. I got and entire pizza for 4.oo dollars so it's good and cheap, who could ask for a better combo.
Got home and ran to the shower to warm up, then ate dinner and posted some new pics. I know there is alot so sorry guys. But on the plus side that isn't even close to half of them.
All in all the day was top notch. The thing besides the weather I would change is the reaction from when I got home. I was really excited about what I had done so when I went on to facebook and saw people online I told them. I thought this is cool my friends will be proud of me, well lets just say it's not the 1st time I've been wrong. The people I told could not have cared less so that kinda killed my joy buzz, but other then that is was so great.
Really I think the weather just made for more of an adventure and a better story.
Oh I forgot when we were leaving the cafe we ran into this two-some from London. They were also biking like hard core. They had the little shorts and everything. We were walking out the door when they said hi and asked us where were going. We told them Krems and they said us too but we're giving up and we called for a ride to come pick us up. After we laughed a bit they offered us a drink a snobes before we left. We smiled and declined. We asked them where they were from and they said London. Then it was your not from here and your not british, where are you from? I said we all go to school in Utah, they automatically said oh are you mormon? I said yes we go to BYU. Then one of them replied I get kinda scared around you people. We smiled and the convo went on from there. Them telling stories about mormons or people they know that know mormons, it was, kinda funny.
That is the end to another random day in my vienna life. I love you all and miss you
Friday, May 29, 2009
Well today school started at 8:30am. Monday-Thursday it starts at 10 am but Friday is earlier and we do not have the tour class. When school was done I came home to see if I could find a grocery store near the house so I could shop without having to ride the train back into town. I ask my host dad and he gave me the name of one near by and I did a google search to try to find it. It took about 30mins to find it on the computer, becuase I didn't know how to spell it. So when that bug and a few others were worked out, I set off to find it. I went alone cause Megan was still downtown so it was me and my little pencil map of hoe to get there. Son after being outside for about 3 minutes it began to storm, I mean ponding rain, wind, and the roar of thunder. BOOOOOOO! As I was getting soaked to the bone the little paper with instuction began to fall apart and the pencil map began to fade. That was no fun because about half way there it was bye bye, so I had to go off the memory of reading it to get the rest of the way there. After getting lost and being a mile off, I almost gave up when I decided to give it one more shot. I re-navigated and ended up finding it about 20 mins later. The short of that part is a 30 min walk took me about an hour. It was much further then I thought and just because it would happen to me, when I was about 5 mins away I noticed it is right next to a train station, which means it is one stop away from my house. lol I got there and did my shopping went to pay and my credit card was not working, ahhhh then the caisher was like we don't visa. Which sucked becuase there was no sign saying that, so I guess that is just something you know. Anyways the total was like 23.00 dollars and I had 25.00 in my purse, so the big guy up stairs for sure had my back. I then decided to be lazy and take the train home as it was still pouring rain.
Got home and got dry and just kinda relaxed for a little bit. Megan then came home and since the rain had stopped we went downtown and did some souviner shopping, well the no rain lasted until we got off the train. It was like time I went inside it stopped but the minute I went outside the storm rolled back in. Good thing I like the rain , but man the wind was artic cold.
Coming back from shopping Megan and I were sitting on the train when we both noticed this man staring at us. I don't mean a causul glance I mean like wow that turkey dinner looks good and I'm starving kind of staring. We have a 20 minute or so train ride which today meant a 2o min or so uneasy feeling in the pit of your stomach. I mean this dude did not blink or move from his spot the entire time, it was like he was a creepy statue just looking at you. We both felt very very very uncomfortable with the situation. When it cam time for us to get off we noticed it was also his stop. For about 2 minutes we thought about getting off at the next stop and the back-tracking home, I mean it was scary bad. The kinda time you wish you had a big strong man with you but no. It was just us 2 young blonde foreigners that clearly had no one else with them. We waited form him to get off and after which we did as well. Luckily he went one way and we went the other. No worries guys he was headed in theother direction before we got off the train. It was just a very odd experience. We both thought it likely he may want to eat us. I mean guys he had the freakin coon eye like no one I have ever seen before, this is the kind of guy you see on CSI. And not as a witness but the one being investigated. So clearly we made it home safe and yes mom the doors are locked. He did not follow us home becuse we checked multiple times. So to celebrate our new friend we went to McDonalds for dinner the came home and ate the fatty food in bliss.
Also today our host family went to Italy so as of Sunday when the other girls leave we have a 3 story house all to oursleves. YIPPPPEEEEE! no there will be no house parties but whatev. We get to take care of the garden and the mail and all that groooovy stuff. It should be fun to run a Vienna household for a week or so. Yes about 3 hours after they left we went to explore the rest of the house, we were good we touch nothing but a toliet, because while the tour was going I had to pee. But I left just the way I found it. I am a good house guest.
Oh today in class I made the funny but mean teacher laugh!!!!!!! This is a HUGE deal for he never laughs at us when we make a funny, he only laughs when he makes funnies at us, and about us. I had water in my mouth when he said something and I gave him a look and tried to say what with my mouth full, so appropriate I know. When he did not understand the clear facial expression I had to explain that, "this is my what face" because I did not understand what he had said. He got a huge smile and I said "Go on laugh you know it's funny, come on you know I'm funny. Just give in everyone else has." he replied "I don't laugh" Then I said "Oh yes you do you think I'm funny and your smiling" Then the class agreed that it was a 1st time and we all laughed at him, it was a great moment. After that class went so great.
So it's on to the weekend which will be filled with a class trip that includes a 20 mile bike ride. Of course the best part all the homework due Tuesday, cause Monday is a holiday. I think on Monday we are either going to a lake/beach area or a under ground lake thing. The beach is supposed to be great and the under lake is the largest in Europe.
It should be a great weekend.
I love you all so much and miss you tons <3

Today after German we all got together for the touring class and jumped on the U-BAN and headed to Schloss Schon Brunn, which is the Schon Brunn Palace. It was huge and so very pretty and the inside just screamed Baroque Rococo. Which means very lavish, over done, bright colors, and gold lot and lots of gold. While at the palace today there was a crew filming a movie there, it was cool to kinda see what goes on in the process. Not sure what it was for or who was in it but it was still neat, I was on a movie set today..hehehe. Schon Brunn is also the place where Mozart gave his 1st concert at the tender age of 6. I got to be in the room that he actually did the performance in, which I think is a uncommon and cool experience. After which we walked around the massive garden area and had lunch, and a small class meeting.
In which I was named the chair of SPOTLIGHTS because the class agreed that it would suit me cause I like to know other peoples info and stories. lol I get to assign people to do a spotlight every week at the class meeting, I think that will be kinda neat.
Lets see nothing to die for funny happened today really, other then me being me and dumb things happening that is. Today getting ready to walk up some stairs I walk into a door knob that, I think had it out for cause it was sticking out like 2 feet. Ok so yes the knob has been there since the 1800's but it should know better then to attack people. So it was really funny at the time but my arm is just ever so tender and slightly bruised. I have a new saying as of breakfast. It goes " I normally don't like morons but for him I will make an exception" Let me now explain. At breakfast Megan, Sara and I were talking about this actor. Megan had food in her mouth in my defense so when she said " I normally don't like blondes" it sounded like morons. Sara and I looked very confused for a few seconds then asked what she had said, upon her reply we laughed for like 10 minutes.
We had some nice but chilly rainy weather today which was a nice change from the hot we have been having. Um....we are going to Melk this Saturday then from there riding bikes to Kremes. I don't know how far that is but it should be fun, but we have to leave at 6:30am to meet the class and the bus. I am really excited it has the largest Abby/Church in the "Western World" so everyone says. It is very Baroque and will close off that chapter of study for class.
Some other random but great news, my host dad has his last round of chemo this morning and does not have to go back to the docter for like 3 weeks. Which is huge because he has been going 3-4 times a week for the past 6 months so we are all very happy for him.
Today was the 1st day that I have been home sick, I have been people sick since day one. Wow that sounds silly, I have missed people form day one but today I missed UT and AZ.
On the 30th it will be a month since I left Provo and almost 2 weeks shy of a month since I left Chandler. Gosh sad day...tear, tear that was a tender moment that I just shared.
Well not much else going on in the life of Megan, sorry it hasn't been to interesting the past few times.
PS I sent post cards last Tuesday so a week and 2 days ago, so when you guys get them could you let me know. I am trying to find out of long the mail takes.
Peace out and much Love

One of the teachers will gone 2mro so it is a free period to research for the group projects that were assigned today. yesterday one the walking tour we went to so many places. We saw Peters Church, Pestsaule which is a tower thanking God for saving Vienna in the plague, Baroque House, and the State House aka the National Lib. It was great but such a long day. Pics of these places are currently on Facebook. We are doing pretty much just Baroque places right now.
Today we went to Karls Church which is such a staple in Baroque Cathedrals. The inside of both it and Peters Church yesterday are well known for their interior and exterior which just scream Baroque. In Karls Church today we got a fantastic treat. It is being renovated right know and they are allowing people to go up and elevator then a tall cat walk to the very top of the dome. Today I took that hike all 40 meters of it to the top. I was standing right under what they call the latern would be. I have pics of the inside and outside to try to show scale of how high I was, but I don't know if it will be portrayed very well. I with out exaggeration went from the tippy top to the bottom of this Cathedral. It was a once in a life time experience, that I am so glad to of had. I mean I am still in awe that I was able to do that. I was an arms length away from the fresco on the walls and ceiling. AHHHHHHH so cool!
Also today on the walk to the Cathedral people were doing something for voting and they were passing out pretty orange daisies, and I got one and felt a little special. lol I mean I'm not voting but I know have that memory.
A funny from yesterday...I was walking in the National Lib. and it is of course rope gaurded so no one can touch the ancient books. I had walked over to do a pic. for class and my bag hit the rope, which hit the sensor which oh yes set off an alarm. It only went off for about 10 seconds but I got a very dirty look from a security gaurd, we thought it was funny she however did not.
We have a 3 day weekend this week because Monday is a holiday here. Today I asked Dr. McFarland for some day trip ideas, and an pretty excited for a couple of them.
He suggested Schneeberg which is a mountain range area and also Neusiedlersee which is a beach on the border of Austira and Hungary. Well it is a beach like area, it is a giant lake that is salt water, but is supposed to be fun. We are thinking about doing the hiking on Saturday or Sunday then Beach on Monday. The only reason we would do the hike on Sunday is if we go to Melk, as a class.
I am kinda bummed to be missing institute tonight but this was the only night our family and new roommates could do the family dinner so I am staying for that. Last week it was delish so I am hopeful that tonight will be just as good.
So some other things I have discovered today...It is just now starting to dawn on me that I am in Vienna, yes guys I am that fumb that it has taken this long. Also that as of 2mro I have been here 2 weeks, on the 30th I have been gone from my beloved Provo for a month, and last that I miss the people in Provo more then they are missing me at this point...who would have thought that a summer in P-Town would beat out a summer in Vienna. The only other thing that is starting to be noticed is I hate not being able to talk to people, like on the phone to hear their voices. I have started to notice that it is very hard to express emotion and urgancy in an e-mail. Either that or I am just not that good at it.
Mom, Dad and the rest of the fam I miss you guys tons and love you more.
P-Town much love miss you guys

In my first class today it was so funny. We have a very strange and stern teacher but he is very nice, and we found out today that he has a funny side to him. When class started the room filled with opera music from a new music class in the room next door. And the joining door kept opening, which we as a class thought was funnt the teacher did not. The music for lack of better word was pissing him off hard core. To make matters worse a wedding had just happened and in Vienna tradition all the guest were honking their car horns as they drove down the street behind the bride and groom. I thought the teacher was going to burst!!!! he would stop teaching and start to pace out of frustration that these dumb people were interrupting his class. I mean really how dare they!!!! hahaha About at what I would call his breaking point I jumped in of course to help the situation..... I said "Really don't they know it's Monday morning? No music or happiness this early on a Monday!!!" he paused for a few seconds then replied..." Thank You, someone gets it." I about died at his response, it was just a funny and good moment. This noise went on for the entire class period.
The 2nd class not much happened other than work and review stuff so nothing blog worthy.
On the touring class portion we went and looked at some Barouqe buildings and ceilings. Then we visited a church that was so crazy and over done on the inside. pics to be posted later. It was borderline silly. They had a little person in a clear glass casket sitting on display..yes a little dead girl with a mask to hide the decay just sitting there for all to see and I don't really know worship maybe. It was crazy! We visited the horses of the Spanish Riding School...basically big white horses that people in funny hats ride. We then hit up this giant outdoor sink thing and all took a turn n taking some free tap water...mmmmmmm good.
That lead us to a stop to get a peek at the statue of the Vienna Basilisk, yes like the snake from the 2nd Harry Potter. Here it is this crazy looking chicken with claw type things, not really scary but a cool story non the less. With that excitment under control the class ended for the day.
I decided to be a good student and went to the LDS institute and did my homework before FHE. Got it all done then had dinner which they provide for like a $1.50. It was this Vienna-Hungarian goulash. It looked pre-eaten but was to die for. After our little tummies had time to settle the FHE lesson began. It was good and I understood about 85% of what was going on. I then grabbed some banana bread and headed home with a few others. yes I am a bum and I skipped the game portion to come home and finish another paper for 2mro.
All in all it was a pretty fun day.
Other new roommie news- they are here from St. Lawrence College, becuase they took a Vienna history class and are here to take a test or something...I kinda stopped listening like half way through their story.
I know nothing to fun today but I'm sure more blog greatness is to come
Your all great and I love and miss you all tons!

Their names are Sara and Merideth and well I don't like them. They bother me becuase they have been here for like 4 hours and they have already touched my crap. I don't like it when people invite their hands to touch my stuff. And I'm pretty sure they used my face soap cause it looks lower, not like I measure or anything but a woman just knows these things. lol
All my girls can verify this fact. I am sure they are great people if you like them. They will only be here for 10 days and counting. They are music peoples here to take some sort of test. I neing the great person I am will give them the benifit of the doubt and blame their stupidity on the jet-lag. Maybe before they leave we will all be besties...but I will not hold breath for I will die.
Wow I'm kinda a big brat....but I'm ok that, is that bad? No really I'm sure it will be grand.
Other then my newly gained sisters getting here the only new funny stuff is Megan and I ate our host families gift......well only part of it. There were 2 boxes of chocolates and now there is 1. Right now Megan's sitting across from me about to die of laughter...see someone thinks I'm funny.
Oh yes one last funny... I asked Megan "how do you spell boobie" and she thought I was kidding however I was quite serious. It took like 5 mins. for her to tell me. By that point I had figured it out on my own, I didn't want to make Michelle wait any longer on facebook IM.
It may sound to you all like we are bored however we see this as pure american fun. lol
If you are wondering...yes the chocolates were great but still can not beat Vienna.
Much loves to you all. I miss you guys like alot...alot alot. <3 <3
I hate to say it but I did not like church. Relief society was very unwelcoming and it felt like they didn't want us there. Ecspecially when a lady walked by us and said " I think BYU is dumb" looked at us then walked away. I later found out she was teaching the lesson today..boooooo!
Sunday had 8 people in well 9 if you count the teacher. it was a hard to understand lesson on fasting and ways to better it for ourselfs. When class was over we headed to Sacrament meeting.
The entire ward is smaller then our EQ and RS in Provo. They don't even have 100 people in this ward, it was kinda odd to me. The families with little kids just let them run around loud and screaming the whole time. It was very distracting and hard to understand the talks.
We were being looked at like animals at the zoo, but no one would take the time to say hello or introduce themselevs, not even the bishop people.
The parts of the talks I could here were ok we heard from one guy that went to BYU and he spoke about education. We had a little old man speak and he looked the grim repar, he was a litlle scary looking, and I have no clue what he spoke about, but I'm sure it was good. He was the last peaker and when he sat down the piano player and the music leader came on to the stand for the closing hymn. Right as the piano started to play the intro the little old mans wife came up to the mic. and statred giving a talk. The entire place filled with laughter and confussed faces..you see she was not asked to give a talk.
So the music people sat down and the bishop smiled and lowered his head and she gave a interesting talk about a war and then just like that sat back down. The music started again and this time we made it to the closing prayer.lol
So to say the least church was for sure a new experience, but I'm not really wantingto go back next week. But I know I'm being a cry baby and I'll get over it.
Other then church happening today the new students that never came last week should be here tonight, so future update will be coming on that I'm sure. I'm sick which kinda sucks but no big deal. It's just a swollen throat, plugged ears, and this great headache right behind my right eye...so much fun. Oh yes and this past Friday I got bit by something on the top of my foot and today my entire foot and ankle are swollen and very tender. We all know that I'm a big kid and I can handle it.
Really nothing else going on today, came home from church ate lunch did about 2 hours of homework and still have a paper to write for 2mro. So far kinda smooth sailing so I really can not complain it could be worse.
I hope you guys are all enjoying your summers and or classes. I miss you guys tons.

For lunch we found a little park area and sat and relaxed with our food. After which we all played on the playfround toys..it was fun. When we were tired of that we had a on the spot german lesson from Dr. McFarland and it was only common and slightly dirty words and phrases. lol He figures if they are common enough for his kids to know them then we can too. No worries mom it is nothng worse then things I already knew.
We then made the hike back to the train, 30 mins later we got on the other train. Megan and I then went into town and got dinner. When that was said and done we got on the train home and 1/2 hour later we were at our door. It has been a long day of walking and touring but it was so fun, I'm just really drained at this point.

As of today Megan and I are offical residents of Vienna we went and turned in the paper work today after the ice cream stop....yipppeee! To celebrate that we did what all residents do and took pics at the Hofburg like tourists...hahaha
We then made our way to lds insititue and I watched Singing in the Rain for the 1st time. That movie has no point what so ever but I liked it..it was very cute. Getting ready to come back home we realized we need to make a grocery run. With groceries in hand we headed back to train and came home.
This morning at breakfast our dad here invited us to dinner for tonight. he said " We want you to have dinner with us, a real Austrian meal...we give you water and a piece of bread." Megan and I both sat there for a few seconds before we reacted. We did not know if her was for real or kidding. he then started laughing, but would not tell us what they were going to feed us. :) Tonight when we got home mom and dad wentout to a movie and left just us girls at home. Me, Megan, and our new sister Frani. We ate a very good and traditional dinner. Noodles with kraut. Not sour kraut but sweet kraut. It was very different but very good. We also had these great little coco and waffle puffs. To drink we had apple tea with citrus added. All in all a new experience but one that was worth it.
After dinner us 3 crazy 20 something aged girls danced for about an hour around the table just singing and laighing...wow there some moments made tonight. It was great finally getting a chance to bond with Frani, she is soo sweet. When the parents came home we came down to our room and showed Frani Bon Qui Qui and Stewart and Can I have your number for the 1st time ever. It was for sure a tender moment. It was cute becuase some of the humor we had to explain so for the most part she thought it was funny.
2mro we go to the castle and do some homework. Tuesday Frani wants to take us to a dance place which should be funny..well at least for those watching me dance that is.
Sidenote- This morning at breakfast we tired tea made from the fruit of white roses. It has a bitter and kinda sour taste but it was good.
That's the days report from this end. Love you guys so much..<3

To my ginormous shock this "swimming hole" we were told about was large and fantastic. There was a wave pool a kiddie pool and slides. The best was the fact that it is a little island off the Danu a very old and famous river in Vienna. Megan and I went exploring and found out the hard way that part of the island is sectioned off for a nudist colony..baaaaa. I have seen enough naked to lat me a life time or 2. They also are very confident over here. There were big fat men in tiny speedos and big fat ladies in tiny 2 pieces of all sorts. Very few people looked good in what they had on, so what that means to me is that wow I was looking good for once in a swimsuit...lol After all the slides and wave pools and such we went to swim in the river. That was a blast, we took tons of pics playing in the water and jumping off the dock into the river. We also got a great group pic of some of us chillin' in the Danu. We did hit up the slide they had and went down it in as many different ways as we could think of. At one point we cahin down in like a chain of 6 of us all holding on to each other. While Danny sat at the bottom taking pics.
Megan and I just got home from that which is nice because I am so drained at this point, from all the water and sun fun. I got a little sunburned but nothing to bad. So after jumping in the shower to wash the fish flavored lake water off me, I must now get ready to do hours worth of homework. Even thou it is a 4 day weekend over here they don't believe in letting homework rest for the holidays. boooooo!
2mro a group of us are going to climb the tower of St. Stephans Cathedral and maybe go to SchonBrunn Palace but I'm not sure yet. When all that is done we are going to the lds institute movie night. Which should be fun the people that work there are super sweet.
Really that is all that has been going on today, other then sometime tonight we are having 2 more study abroad students move into the house we live in. We know nothing about them other then they are here for music stuff and go to a different school. Oh and they'll only be here 10 days.
Just a reminder kids....topless and naked are not always a good thing....lol so use that power for good and not evil. Oh the best part about the nakeds was a lady that was topless and we had to do a double take because her breast were so odd looking we thought she was a guy at 1st. hahaha either that or the old man that stipped down in front of me to change into his swim trunks, and he was not in any shape to be doing that. :)
love you all <3
ps pics from today may take awhile to been seen on facebook cause my camera died today and they are all on other peoples..so sorry

Today we had our german classes again and we are all in agreement that one of the teachers just really like to pick on me...me well I'm not the biggest fan of that but hey I get lots of practice..lol. After class we walked to the residency office to become offical Vienna residents. Ahhh I wonder if they know what they jsut did...letting us all in. haha We then headed back to school to meet Prof. McFarland for the walking tour class.
We went to St. Stephans and got to do a audio tour about all the relics and such inside which was so great and very informative. Then we got to go into the CATACOMBS! WOOOOW! We were 8 meter under the cathedral which is 24 feet deep. We walked through the 2 parts of the catacombs which are called the old and new. The new was first, in that section they have the coffins of passed Cardinals then there was a Bishop room, Duke room, and a Habsburg room which is a very wealthy old family that the Hofburg Palace is named after because they lived their. We also saw internal organ jars..kinda odd but so neat. The best part of ever was the old part of the catacombs. Which had open graves/coffins so you could see the bodies. Right after you see the open graves you pass what they call bone rooms. In these rooms bones are stacked to the top like firewood. GROSS, but for some reason I had the biggest urge to wanna touch but no worries I didn't. :) Oh and the newest addition to the tombs was the Cardinal that past 5 years ago so still pretty fresh. It was dark and damp but so worth the wait in the line to see it.
The next stop was what else but dessert. Really what else do you do after walking through a bunch of tombs. lol We went to the oldest still in working opperation resturant in Vienna..Griechenbeisl it was built in 1447. This place was great not only for the taste buds but for the eyes as well. Everything about this place was just perfect.
When done with the sweets we headed over to the lds institute building. We hung out there about an hour or so before class. We had class in german and then we had dinner. We stayed there just hanging out till about 10pm. We played pool and other games, we also played the piano and sang hymns..what up we are so Mormon. haha While there I met the sweetest little old man. His name was Elde Gill and he was sportin' a BYU tie, which kinda made me happy it was like a little piece of one of my homes. Megan and I then went to the Rathaus which is city hall and took some pics..the buildings here just leave me shock that something so grand can be real. After doing that and getting over the awe of the place we hopped back on the U-BAN and came home.
So it is nearly 12:30 as in mid-night and I am not sure how I am still awake cause I am beyond dead tired. It has been a long and great day.
Some side notes..Dr. McFarland's daughter Maddie that is 10 has decided as of today that she is my new hip attachment..lol which is fine by me cause she is such a doll...and she can help me with my german since she has been speaking it simce she was about 3. lol Um....2mro we are going to a swimming hole type place to play around in the water...Friday is till open but Saturday we are going to a medieval castle which is the last one left in Vienna. While there they let you play with the swords and all those cool and pointy things. I'm so stoked for that really where can you say you got to play with armory stuff while in a castle?.
After today the only part of St. Stephans Cathedral I have not seen is the tower, which I will see before I come home.
I miss you guys all so much, I mean really it is kinda borderline silly..LOTS of LOVE <3
again i am dead tired so spelling and such may be very gross so sorry in advance :)
